Description
The Airworthiness & Certification Engineer will be assigned to the L-3 FAA-ODA organization.  The successful candidate will work within the ODA and report to the ODA Administrator for both administrative and airworthiness responsibilities. 
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Managing Military or Civil-Experimental Airworthiness programs and civil certification programs.   Task Lead responsibilities include preparing or ensuring preparation of all required Military/FAA certification documentation and coordinating with all personnel involved in the Military (MIL-HDBK-516) or FAA (14CFR21) or EASA (CS21) certification processes.  Their responsibilities will include preparing or ensuring preparation of all required airworthiness certification documentation and coordinating with all personnel involved in the airworthiness evaluation process to accomplish the program.    This will include budgeting and scheduling of airworthiness functions.
  • Will hold existing or previously held FAA ODA or DER authorizations.  ODA Administrator or FAA Program Management is desired.
  • Will be expected to pursue appropriate training and experience to achieve status as an FAA Engineering ODA Unit Member.
  • Will be expected to maintain their engineering and administrative skills and currency in their specialty area as required by the appropriate Government or Military agencies.
  • Will have interpersonal skills that allow them to work successfully with people of diverse backgrounds across the spectrum of government, customer, corporate, and vendor organizations, foreign or domestic.  They must have the ability to work within an Integrated Product Team (IPT)environment.
  • Will be assigned to work military airworthiness programs and may be assigned to support commercial and other civil airworthiness programs.
  • Need to exhibit strong leadership, communication, and self-motivation characteristics.  This person must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in a professional manner.  This person will be expected to develop a working relationship with US and Foreign Civil Aviation Authorities and US Military airworthiness authorities as required.
  • Must work to maintain a professional office environment.
  • Must set the highest standard of ethical standards for themselves and others.
  • Will perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications: 
  • BSME, BSEE, BSAE or other accredited engineering degree plus a minimum of 5 years experience in military aircraft airworthiness engineering, operations, maintenance, production, or modification. 
  • Will hold or have previously held an FAA ODA or DER Authorization.  ODA Administrator or FAA Program Management is desired.
  • Must have demonstrated airworthiness or certification program experience.
  • Must be able to work any shift, weekends, overtime as required.
  • Must be able to work well with external customers and civil and military  government organizations.
